Welcome to Nutmeg Miniature Poodles, located in rural Connecticut
approximately 25 minutes northwest of Hartford. Breeding the finest in black, gray and blue Miniature
Poodles. We are excited to announce that we will be working in conjunction with Darkover Miniature Poodles to start
our line of silver color Poodles. We will continue to focus on health, temperament and to breed dogs as close
to the Poodle conformation standard as set down by the Poodle Club of America guidelines.
Nutmeg Miniatures
does not condone and vehemently opposes the practice of cross-breeding Poodles with another breed to create designer
dogs and will not participate in the propogation of this practice. If you are looking for a Poodle-cross, PLEASE
go to your local shelter or to your local Poodle Rescue and rescue a dog. Our dogs are PRCD/PRA-"A" by parentage and fully tested for Hip Dysplasia, Leggs-Calves-Perthes and
Progressive Renal Atrophy to ensure healthy puppies. We offer a life-time guarantee on your puppies against these genetic
defects. Providing show and companion dogs Blue, Black and Cream
Miniature Poodles. We sometimes get an Apricot Miniature, but infrequently. Nutmeg Miniatures breeds only
pure-bred Poodles and does not participate in the practice of breeding designer dogs. We raise our puppies in our home, where they are lovingly
handled from birth to socialize them and aid in their assimilation to being part of a busy and active family. Our
puppies are raised as part of our family to ensure they are not timid or shy. We also begin the house-breaking
process and crate training to assist you in developing a well-trained companion. Our puppies are bathed
and groomed routinely from three-weeks of age. This is done to not only keep them clean; but to help educate them
on the grooming process and to being handled. Why a Poodle you ask? Poodles are the ideal choice if you are concerned about allergies or cleanliness. Poodles are essentially hypo-allergenic,
having hair rather than fur. They have minimal dander, don't shed or have that offensive "doggy"
odor. Regardless of color, size or gender; Poodles are versatile and participate in many venues.
Whether you want to lounge at home, go hiking or swim; they're ready to go when you are. Perhaps
you thought about competition such as the Conformation breed ring, Obedience or Agility competition, Search
& Rescue, Therapy dog, herding, tracking and hunting; our puppies can do it all. We encourage you to
give any of the venues a try.
We continually strive to guarantee
that our puppies are free from the common genetic defects that may afflict Miniature Poodles. Three of the most common
genetic issues facing the Miniature Poodles of present day are: - Leggs-Calves-Perthes
- Hip Dysplasia
- PRA and
prcd-PRA
All adult dogs in our breeding program are
tested by board-certified veterinarians to ensure they are free of these genetic defects. We can, therefore,
offer a life-time guarantee that our puppies will be free from these defects. Nutmeg Miniature
Poodles is very selective in our breeding. We have only a litter or two each year. This is our Mission
Statement: - To breed only dogs free of genetic health problems
- To breed for temperment
- To breed dogs as close to
the Poodle standard as set down by the parent club, Poodle Club of America
We
also provide stud service to fully tested and approved Poodle females by private treaty. All females
must have a current (within 15 days prior to service) Brucellosis test and certificate from a board-certified vet.
